Latest offering offers complete content lifecycle management, organisation claims

Dropbox rival Intralinks has unveiled a new version of its VIA file sync and share product, VIA Enterprise.

The company claims the product  is ahead of its predecessor, which went on general release in April 2013, by moving beyond file sync and into complete content lifecycle management for the wider enterprise.

According to Intralinks, VIA Enterprise allows businesses to design, set up and manage secure content repositories called Intralinks Exchanges. Users can then collaborate on files stored within the Exchanges, store them, publish them, archive them and delete them according to company policy.

The company also claims these repositories integrate smoothly with other content platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint.

Richard Anstey, CTO EMEA at Intralinks, said: “Keeping data secure is a key aspect of enterprise collaboration.

“For 16 years, Intralinks has been trusted to provide secure collaboration solutions to more than 2.7 million registered users from 90,000 organisations, supporting over $23 trillion in transactions. Intralinks VIA Enterprise brings that knowledge and experience to the enterprise file sync and share market.”

One company that has been using the Intralinks platform to overcome the problem of shadow IT, in particular, is UK law firm Kingsley Napely.

Head of IT at the organization Thereza Snyman, said: “We moved to Intralinks partly to formalise our adoption of cloud, which was previously being done by individuals on a non-formal basis using non-approved platforms, and also to relieve the pressure on our Microsoft Exchange system.

“Thanks to the company hosting all our data on secure UK data centres, we are able to comply with data protection legislation and still make our journey into the cloud.”
