Tata launches cloud HCM

Human Capital Management is the latest application to get the cloud computing treatment from Tata Communications.

Tata Communications today announced the latest addition to its Software as a Service (SaaS) portfolio – InstaHCM.

The Human Capital Management software will run in the cloud and be provided initially to users in India on a pay per use basis.

It will launch alongside Tata’s partner SuccessFactors, which provide what it calls “business execution software” – or HR/Employee management tools to the rest of us – through a public cloud model.

"Talent retention, a productive workforce, business alignment and employee development are key areas of focus for any enterprise,” said Sumeet Walia, senior vice president of the India and APAC region for Tata Communications.

“Development and implementation of dedicated HR tools to address these issues is becoming increasingly important for enterprises that want to harness human resource intelligence to empower employees. By providing visibility into these aspects of a company's business, employees can better collaborate and communicate, significantly improving organisational productivity.”

Tata already offers a number of SaaS products in its InstaApps range, including CRM, contact centre products and InstaOffice, in partnership with Google Apps. With this latest launch, it claims to be the first telecoms firm in India to offer cloud HCM.

The company is a global one though and Virtual Clouds asked Tata whether other regions – and the UK specifically – would benefit from this service. Unfortunately, it had not returned our request at the time of publication [we will update this story as soon as we find out].
