In the latest addition to its business cloud services, Xerox looks to mobile device management.

Xerox claims to have offered a solution to companies looking to manage the deployment of mobile devices via the cloud.

The firm claimed it would save companies big bucks from buying additional hardware and software to run the process, which has become increasingly necessary with the influx of smartphones and tablets in the corporate environment.

Instead, businesses will be able to access mobile device management (MDM) as a cloud service, giving anytime and real-time access to IT departments, paying on a subscription basis.

“Companies, large and small, struggle with how to identify, secure and track a host of mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets and laptops,” said Ken Stephens, senior vice president of cloud services at Xerox.

“Employees use them 24x7, anywhere and everywhere, and they need them all to connect and sync seamlessly. We keep it secure, simple and cost effective.”

Xerox will help new customers with set-up and also train staff how to use the cloud service. It's the second cloud launch from the company in the last month, three weeks ago, Xerox introduced a range of cloud services for SMBs.

The service is launching at an opportune time, when most industry predictions are aimed towards massive mobile growth.

Last month, analyst firm IDC claimed mobile workers would ramp up to 1.3 billion by 2015, with 244.6 million in Europe. alone.
